This is a fantastic opportunity in Darlington for a Materials Leader who is looking to lead and develop an enthusiastic team and create and implement efficient process improvements.

This is the perfect role for you if you have existing experience overseeing a materials function for a multi-national manufacturing plant and you are now looking for the opportunity to influence change as part of a global team.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • Lead efforts within one or more Supply Chain functions including materials, production, inventory, logistics, demand management and order fulfillment. Ensures internal and external customers' expectations and requirements are met from end to end in each of the supply chains.

  • Manage daily operations across functions to ensure a dependable and efficient supply chain.

  • Lead continuous improvement projects that align with Cummins Operating System and Functional Excellence direction and leverage common processes tools, and information systems.

  • Support Corporate Supply Chain initiatives and lead the cross Business Unit planning processes to ensure intra-company alignment.

  • Mitigate long term supplier constraints by collaborating with functional stakeholders.

  • Create common supply chain processes and procedures by establishing collaborative business partner relationships.

  • Approach daily problem solving and continuous improvement opportunities strategically and tactically to achieve performance targets.

  • Develop, understand and improve necessary Key Performance Indicators.

  • Analyze operational trends and develop corrective action plans.

  • Address supply chain failures promptly to ensure operations stability; escalate as appropriate.

  • Prepare and manage an annual operating plan including expense resources, and capital.

  • Manage, coach, and develop staff; work with employees to set goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.


To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Previous experience leading the Materials function of a manufacturing site including; Order Management (OM), Demand Control, Inventory Management & Forecasting , Material Planning.

  • Demonstrated broad and deep understanding of manufacturing and supply chain challenges that occur within multi-site distributed environments and related best-practice solutions.

  • The ability to coach and motivate others with a focus on encouraging high performance and driving professional development.

  • A proactive approach with a focus on achieving key deliverables within a timely manner.

  • To be an influencer of change, institutionalizing a culture of simplification and standardization.

  • To target minimum leadtime and inventory reductions.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

A university degree or substantial, relevant experience is required for this role.

  • Competitive annual salary

  • 12% variable bonus, paid annually
